Talking the Harry Potter talk

Hey guys, someone's talking about my most fav-o character on my blog today. Yeeshh, while I'm enjoying the pretty tradiotional wedding in my neighbourhood, Marla is taking over my blog. Be ready for some Harry Potter doze! And don't miss me a lot, I'll be back tomorrow with Grab A Friend!

Hi, I'm Marla and I blog over at A Weekend Crossing, a blog about travel and life. I'm so so so so excited to be sharing something here on Areeba's blog that I haven't shared on the internet yet!

So when the last movie was getting closer and closer, I began mourning the end of the Harry Potter series. I started reading the books when I was nine or ten, and had basically grown up with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Emma Watson and I are only a month apart in age in real life...when I say I feel like we grew up together, I mean it! It felt like I was about to close a long and meaningful chapter of my life, one that had lasted an entire decade. I knew I wanted to do something more than make a scarf to commemorate the finale of the Harry Potter series.

I am a HUGE fan of tattoos. Here is a picture of my biggest one. It's on my foot!
For the meaning behind and description of this tattoo, go here . Although I ADORE this tattoo, it was not my first one. No, I got my very first tattoo on July 15, 2011. The date the last Harry Potter movie came out.

In case you couldn't already guess, I got a tattoo to commemorate the closure of an amazing childhood journey that so many of us went on together. It's just a tiny little thing, but it does the job:
I wanted it to be tiny, so it would look like a birthmark. Harry Potter is really a part of me, not an add-on. I wanted it to look that way.

Here is a closer picture (I'm wearing my homemade Ravenclaw scarf!):
I wanted to carry a piece of the series with me forever in a visible way (because obviously I'm carrying it in my heart forever, but no one can see that!) and I have never regretted it even for one day. It reminds me of one of the most magical (pun totally intended) parts of my childhood, one that I can't wait to share with my children later on.

  6. That's a really cute idea. If you love it all that much- then that is the perfect tattoo to get! I love the Harry Potter series of books sooo soo much. Reading those books, made reading different somehow.. It was like I was playing a movie in my head.. I love authors that can literally suck you into a book like that.
I always considered myself a Ravenclaw...!
